Seawater covers 71% of the planet surface and represents 97% of the world's water, and seawater has a lot of resources to be explored.Along with recycled wastewater, it is one of the few rainfall-independent water sources. However,in the current condition, seawater cannot be used directly because of the high salinity. To solve it,many methods of desalination are adopted.
Desalination is a process that extracts minerals from saline water. More generally, desalination refers to the removal of salts and minerals from a target substance.Saltwater is desalinated to produce water suitable for human consumption or irrigation. In the progress, salt will be produced.

The traditional process used in these operations is vacuum distillation—essentially boiling it to leave impurities behind. In desalination, atmospheric pressure is reduced, thus lowering the required temperature. Liquids boil when the vapor pressure equals the ambient pressure and vapor pressure increases with temperature. Thus, because of the reduced temperature, low-temperature "waste" heat from electrical power generation or industrial processes can be employed.

Some modern processes are mostly adopted like Mechanical Vapor Compression using a mechanical compressor to compress the vapor above the liquid and Reverse Osmosis using membrane to desalt the seawater which are ones Horizon is mainly providing.Compared to the traditional process, these are more energy conservative due to dependence on technology improvement.Horizon has made many projects like TUAS II Sea Water Desalination Project in Singapore,San Joan Despi SWRO Project in Spain,Adelaide SWRO Project in Spain, etc.Otherwise,Horizon can provide filter cartridges and SDI testers which are needed in these process and projects.
